Is GTA 6 Coming to PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo?
What Rockstar has officially confirmed — and which platforms have simply not been announced.

GTA 6 has not been announced for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or Nintendo Switch 2. Rockstar Games has confirmed PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for launch on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not been officially announced.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have confirmed two launch platforms. Everything else is currently unannounced.

- Xbox Series X|SConfirmedConfirmed launch platform — November 19, 2026.

Is GTA 6 Coming to PS4?
No — GTA 6 has not been announced for PS4. The only PlayStation platform Rockstar has confirmed is the PlayStation 5. Every official trailer, press release and Take-Two earnings communication has referenced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
The PS4 launched in 2013 and is now two hardware generations behind the current PS5. It is standard for a major cross-generation cycle to end without a last-gen version of a marquee new release. Rockstar has not publicly commented on PS4 specifically, so this is context rather than an official statement.
Is GTA 6 Coming to Xbox One?
No — GTA 6 has not been announced for Xbox One. The confirmed Xbox platforms are the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Xbox One is not part of the launch line-up and Rockstar has not indicated an Xbox One version is in development.
Is GTA 6 Coming to Nintendo Switch or Switch 2?
Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for any Nintendo platform. That includes the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. This is different from Rockstar formally ruling either platform out — it is simply not part of the announced launch.
No GTA 6 version has been announced for the original Switch. Historically Nintendo's handheld/hybrid consoles have not received mainline modern GTA releases.
Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for Nintendo Switch 2. If that changes in the future, we will update this guide.
Why Isn't GTA 6 Announced for Older Consoles?
- Hardware generation gap. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in 2020 with dramatically faster CPUs, GPUs and memory bandwidth than PS4 and Xbox One (2013). A new open-world flagship is typically built to that higher baseline.
- NVMe storage requirements. Current-gen consoles ship with fast SSDs. Modern open worlds lean on that speed for streaming and short loading times — older consoles with mechanical drives are a different design target.
- World simulation complexity. Rockstar's public trailers show high pedestrian density, dynamic weather and detailed physics. Scaling those systems down to last-gen hardware is a significant engineering effort that publishers usually avoid for a flagship release.
- Nintendo handheld constraints. Nintendo Switch hardware is optimized for portability rather than raw GPU/CPU output. Recent mainline GTA titles have not appeared on Nintendo platforms.
Could GTA 6 Come to More Platforms Later?
It is possible in principle. Rockstar has historically expanded major GTA releases to additional platforms after launch — most notably PC. GTA V eventually reached PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S across multiple years.
However, no additional platforms are currently announced for GTA 6. Anything beyond PS5 and Xbox Series X|S should be treated as unconfirmed until Rockstar says otherwise.
